Investigators have determined that she was attacked during what appears to have been a robbery, police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said... Police say she suffered several head injuries... [Excerpts] The wife of a DeKalb County police officer is recovering after she was severely beaten and left for dead outside her home. The victim's condition is improving, but they still don't know who attacked her, police said. The wife of Sgt. Jerry Banks was coming home early Sunday morning when someone attacked and robbed her outside her own home on English Loop, police said.... Banks was inside the house at the time and is not a suspect, police said. Banks' wife was beaten so badly she had to be taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Police do not know who did it or why, but they are looking at the possibility she may have been targeted. "Items were taken, so this could have been a robbery.
